How do we feel about Spam and viruses?
We take every action and security measure to protect our
infrastructure and customers from spam, viruses and other malicious
items propagated via email. Below is an example of the number of
incoming spam messages detected and filtered in just the last 24 hours.
These messages are either marked or deleted based on our customer's
preference. We use a number of advanced techniques to scan messages for
spam, viruses and malicious content. We can control each account
separately to protect for example, your children from offensive material
and images in their emails
How do we Combat Spam and Viruses for our Customers?
We have deployed a server side mail scanning service
that provides software virus detection, cleaning, and removal.
This means that when our servers receive an email, they are
immediately scanned for all known viruses. If a virus is
detected, it will attempt to clean it. If it cannot be cleaned, the
message is delivered with a warning and the infected attachment is
deleted. For the latest updates about network status and security alerts
see our Network Announcements page.
How is Spam Filtered?
Spam Filtering
The system also filters 'spam" also known as unsolicited commercial
email. It relies on public lists of known spam offenders as well as a
wide range of heuristic tests to identify spam.
Black Lists
Live distributed lists of know spam sources maintained by anti spam
organizations. The spam lists are also updated several times daily to
keep up with spamming trends.
SpamAssassin (tm)
SpamAssassin (tm) is a mail filter to identify spam. Using its rule
base, it will perform a wide range of heuristic tests on mail headers
and body text to identify spam. This will significantly reduce the
number of spam emails you will receive. In addition we employ several
custom rule sets updated as required to specifically target new spamming
techniques.
We hope you find this system a benefit to your security from viruses
as well as your sanity in dealing with spam. Please lets us know if you
have any questions or concerns.

Why is your site sending me Spam?
We DO NOT allow spam to be sent from our servers. Our
Acceptable Use
Policy clearly states "spamming shall result in immediate
termination and removal of the site and/or server without a refund".
We are sorry you have been victimized by a spammer pretending to be
from our site.
We are not responsible for sending these messages. We do not condone
their content nor are we affiliated with them in any way. I assure you
we are doing a thorough investigation into this matter.
We take every action and security measure to protect our
infrastructure and customers from this type of material and for that
matter all spam.
The technique the spammers may use is as simple as changing the
"Reply To" address in their email program. This makes the message appear
like it is coming from our domain
This is called a "Joe Job".
What is a "Joe Job?"
Named after Joes.com, which was victimized in this way by a spammer
some years ago.
http://www.joes.com/spammed.html
To 'joe' someone is to forge e-mail messages in an attempt to make it
appear as though another person is sending it. The spam you are
receiving is an example of a joe job.

How can I help with this problem?
If you could forward the original email as an attachment or paste the
header contents into an email, we can use this information to track down
and possible prosecute the offenders.
Unfortunately the header information can be forged as well. But in
some It may be enough to stop them.
We are consolidating feedback from others and forwarding it on to the
proper authorities, as that is all we can do at this point.
As you can imagine this is very distressing to us as well. With your
header information we may have an opportunity to locate and stop these
people.
